Works for Me Wednesday – My kids and their cousin…

Have y’all looked out your windows this morning? It sounds like half of the US is seeing something similar to me – lots of snow (and ice for some of you). If you’re not and it’s warm, someone please, please, please go bottle up some sunshine and send it to me! I need some vitamin D!

And with the cold and snow, my kids are cooped up in the house. Have I ever mentioned that three of them are boys? Very rambunctious boys? The kind who like to run and jump and wrestle and carry on. And they are all very social. So when they aren’t able to go outside and play with their friends, they want to play with me.

Which is just fine. I enjoy my kids. I like playing with them. I’d play with them all day long if I could. But I’ve got some stuff that has to be done or my house will soon resemble a natural disaster site. So, I have to pull myself away to do things like cook and clean and hide in the bathroom so maybe I can get a few moments of peace before going back to playing Guitar Hero or Legos or whatever other thing they want to play.

Until a week ago anyway. Now, once they are done with school work, they all fight over the computer. Because they’ve figured out how to talk to their cousin in Wyoming on it. So, as soon as they are able, they log into their various Google accounts and “Gtalk” with their almost 7 year old cousin.

Which means that I’ve been able to do things like go to the bathroom without someone knocking on the door looking for me to “do something”.

OH! And the best part? IT’S FREE!!! They can talk while they play games together online and they can talk for HOURS and not use any of our minutes. They love it!

What works for you for curbing cabin fever?
